I wrote "Who's Gonna Cry For Me" just this morning, thanks to an idea from a subscriber about how we should look at things from other perspectives, even if that's an uncomfortable thing to do.
It was a hard song for me to write, and I don't mean physically, but just the heaviness of it, and making sure the point was coming across. It may seem harsh to some folks, and hard to listen to, but it was really important to me to be blatantly clear and not shy away from reality. Suicide, depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, broken families, that's all in here, and the purpose behind it is that the person struggling isn't necessarily struggling because they just "choose" to-- they are trying desperately to be heard, to be seen, and to be loved. But nobody notices. And that drives them to do the unthinkable. The unthinkable is not always suicide, either. Sometimes that need manifests itself in an unhealthy obsession that leads to tragedy, but nevertheless, the root of the problem was the feeling of being unloved. The feeling that nobody out there is going to cry for you. That's what this song is about. I hope it speaks to you in some way-- AEW 🙏
