The Dixie Cups performing "Chapel Of Love", released originally in 1964.

It reached #1 in the US Billboard Hot 100, #1 in Canada Top Singles, and #22 in the UK Singles Chart.

"Chapel Of Love" was written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich for Phil Spector to produce, with Darlene Love being the intended singer. The Dixie Cups ended up recording the song, making it the first release on Red Bird. The song is about wedding joy and is different from most other love songs of 1964, which dealt with the feeling of falling in love or puppy love.

The Dixie Cups are a New Orleans trio consisting of Joan Marie Johnson and her cousins, Barbara and Rosa Hawkins. They were brought to New York by a New Orleans impresario named Joe Jones to audition for producers and music publishers, and they were signed after Leiber and Stoller heard them.

"Chapel Of Love" was arranged in their vocal style and recorded with a horn arrangement by Wardell Quezergue, who knew the girls from New Orleans.
