A traditional song turned into a massive global dance hit that sings about sharing the gifts you have with the world even if it's one small thing. A song about giving your all no matter what situation you may be in. When I was little, I always HATED the original song because it was so boring…I thought it was waaaay too traditional for my taste, so I would start yelling for someone to turn it off and put on Gaga’s Christmas Tree LOLLLL! I never heard the actual message because it went over my head the few milliseconds I did listen, but now as an adult, the song makes me cry. As a musician, it’s my truth: In the end, I have nothing but my talent and my music to give. I am the little drummer boy. “I have nothing, yet I feel so blessed” and “I’ll play my best for Him” actually made me cry when recording the lines haha! I’ve never liked the majority of Christmas music in general because none of it was “bumpin” enough to celebrate how AWESOME Christmas is. As a very religious person, this is one of the most important holidays, and tbh, I worship/pray in unique ways unlike the tradition! I prefer being physically active, having dance music {as usual, always been a h8r of slow music}, and having fun while worshiping. With Li’l Drummer Boy, I wanted it to have a sound similar to a massive college/HS marching band during halftime: the most grandiose beat celebrating a grandiose birth!! Even if you aren’t religious or celebrate Christmas, what is song really summarizes is the feeling and sound of pure endless joy. True joy.
